                        The number and varied quality of health webpages can be daunting for users searching for health information on the Internet. But thanks to the HONcode tool bar, it is easy to differentiate good quality sites from those that are not. 

The HONcode toolbar extension allows you to: 
  - Easily identify HONcode certified websites while browsing
  - Easily identify those sites that are HONcode certified in the search results of major search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo and DuckDuckgo)
  - Search only among sites that are HONcode certified, so that you know the results lead to sites that are trustworthy. 

The Health On the Net Foundation (HON) is the leading organization promoting and guiding the deployment of useful and reliable medical and health information online, and its appropriate and efficient use. Created in 1995, HON is a non-profit, non-governmental organization accredited to the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

The HONcode and its 8 principles (available in 35 languages) aim to improve the quality of health information on the Internet. The HONcode seal of approval is attributed to health websites that respect the 8 principles defined in the HONcode charter, letting users know that they can trust the information that they find on the website.
